Unless we have something worth dying for, we've nothing worth living for. Normally I don't read a book worth writing a whole blog post about, but today I found one. As you can see from the title, I just read Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers and I loved it. I wouldn't suggest it for a younger audience since there are a bunch of gory fighting details and Ancient Rome was a very morally corrupt place. Oh! The end! The end ripped my heart out. How can an author even end a book that way? I came downstairs and almost started crying recounting the ending to Emma and Abby. And they just looked at me like.... How can we be witnesses of the one true God if we hold the truth as our own possession? God meant his truth for the world. I had this revelation when I was reading this story when Hadassah was telling Marcus how God is like a voice in the wind and I looked at the book like this.... True beauty is rare and seldom recognized by the one who possesses it. Now that my little rant is over, I can tell you what I loved about this book. Ms. Rivers' writing style was amazing and the characters were so well developed that at times I loved them and at times I hated them, exactly as she intended. The language was beautiful and there were times when my heart literally accelerated and I could feel it pounding against my ribs. I was never bored (a plus for me.) I was totally immersed in that world and whenever I got interrupted, I was dazed for several minutes trying to break the spell Ms. Rivers wove over me. The ending almost made me sob, a horrible feeling rising up in my chest. Just as a hint from me, make sure you have book 2 before you start reading this one.

About Me!Hannah writes to satisfy her imagination. She's written six books so far--five of which need to be rewritten--and is working on a seventh. She ranges through a variety of genres, but favors contemporary YA, fixing broken characters. She wants to use her writing to change people and bring hope. She's currently going to college for Nursing and that takes up most of her writing time. She's a rather stereotypical writer, talking to imaginary friends, eavesdropping on people at the store, secretly being nosy, stashing herself away in her room with a paper and pen and chocolate and her teddy bear. She loves Jesus, the way the morning smells, her family of seven (four siblings), old movies, fairy tales, candles at night and helping people. She writes on another blog at nerdywriter.blogspot.com to hopefully build her chances of publication. My Author Site:Archives
