I officially have 2,688 words in NaNoWriMo. I had my own insignificant mini-victory today. Emma wrote 1000 words and we're doing word wars (see who can write the most words in a day.) "I bet I can beat you," I told her. She raised her eyebrows at me. "How much do you want to bet?" So, I was determined. You can't just tell me I can't do something. I'm just going to do everything in my power to do it. The power of perseverance here demonstrated in my 1271 words today. I rediscovered this song the other day. I was looking through a bunch of old music that I used to listen to. Ironically, I used to hate this song, and now it's one of the only songs on the album that I like. It has such a great message. The whole song has a whole plot that I didn't want to diagram here, so if you want to hear the whole thing, click on the play button. It's just a great reminder to use your words when they're needed and not hold back from sharing God's love with people. Now it's no mystery, this tragedy. Could I have known he would take his own life? I saw him alone at the end of that road. I saw he'd been crying. I wish I'd have known. He looked in my eyes as I slowly passed by and all I could think of to say, was hi...Why do I live life this way with the power of... words that could somehow save a life...don't let me just say hi. I've been wondering how brainstorming helps writer's block. My theory is that my characters tend to like other people better and will tell them ideas, but not me. So unfair! Here are just a bunch of writing icons and some that don't have anything to do with anything.

Drove two and a half hours to Estes Park today to fulfill a tradition. Every September/October-ish time, we travel to Estes Park to shop and see the elk. This time we also got to see some good friends. We left around eight-ish and got to Estes Park around 10: 30. We saw elk (pictures below) literally 3 feet away from us on the side of the highway. One of the elks decided he owned the town and walked across the main 4 lane road, taking his own sweet time, stopping up traffic. We stumbled on a herd of elk, laying around in the forest, next to Estes Lake. We drove into town and had lunch at Molly B's and had burgers, gyros, and fries. So good:) We shopped, ate candy apples (a yearly tradition. You have to have caramel apples when you go to Estes), saw a cool costume shop with $500 dollar medieval dresses and suits of armor and stuff, bought 10 postcards (yes it was worth it:), went into an honest-to-goodness candy shop and different tourist shops and went into a shop that displayed beautiful dresses. (some are here below) Then we drove out to see Cameo, Ivy and Mrs. Lurie at their new home. We got a wagon ride halfway up the mountain with the lodge's hunormous horses (I made that up yesterday, accidentally, trying to say huge and ginormous at the same time.) We had so much fun together, catching up and taking wagon rides. We miss you! Emma used me as a pillow on the way home and I slept a total of ten minutes...during that whole two and a half hours. That's how good I am at sleeping in the car:) All in all it was a great day. Oh, and NaNoWriMo started today. I wrote a grand total of....drumroll...111 words. Impressive, huh? :) I'm so uninspired. In fact, I wrote a poem about it, actually, which I will post after the pictures, simply because I feel like it. And for all you rhyming freaks out there, yes I know that 'happen' and 'captive' don't rhyme. And, yes, I know that 'pain' and 'listen' don't rhyme as well. They're slant-ish-maybe-not rhymes. |
About Me!Hannah writes to satisfy her imagination. She's written six books so far--five of which need to be rewritten--and is working on a seventh. She ranges through a variety of genres, but favors contemporary YA, fixing broken characters. She wants to use her writing to change people and bring hope. She's currently going to college for Nursing and that takes up most of her writing time. She's a rather stereotypical writer, talking to imaginary friends, eavesdropping on people at the store, secretly being nosy, stashing herself away in her room with a paper and pen and chocolate and her teddy bear. She loves Jesus, the way the morning smells, her family of seven (four siblings), old movies, fairy tales, candles at night and helping people. She writes on another blog at nerdywriter.blogspot.com to hopefully build her chances of publication. My Author Site:Archives
