I woke up, sitting, with a hand over my mouth and a dagger at my back. I let out a muffled yelp that even I could barely hear. He started dragging me back into the overgrowth, hardly making a sound at all. I'd finally fully woken up and was about to start thrashing when, Jonathon sat up and his hand went to his slowly to his side and he grabbed something in the leaves. I remembered him saying something about taking a dagger from Rose's captor last night. Rose must have been alerted by her brother's stirring and she sat up as well. At first she didn't seem to understand, but I could see the fear growing in her eyes. Jonathon stood up slowly and pointed the dagger at whoever was behind me. "Let her go." He sounded totally confident and unafraid, but somehow I knew that he was terrified, even if he didn't look like it. The pressure on the knife at my back increased. The man behind me spoke in a low, gutteral voice. "How about you drop the dagger, or I'll kill her."
